At Atlantis
We understand that once you make the decision to upgrade your cooling and heating system, you don't want to wait two or three weeks to get the work done. To keep up with demand and provide even better service, we have expanded our Add-on & Retrofit Department, adding yet another experienced crew. This move will greatly reduce our backlog of residential add-on and replacement systems waiting to be installed.
Did you know that it is our tradition to supply a decorated birthday cake for each employee on their birthday? That's a lot of cake and a lot of calories. but its fun and it only happens once a year.

Where's My Filter?
We recently received a call from a new customer wanting us to repair the air conditioning unit. It wasn't cooling, and there was no air coming out of the vents. On arrival, our Technician found that the system had a clogged air filter and a very dirty indoor evaporator coil. There was a ball of ice on the compressor as a result of the lack of airflow, but luckily the compressor was still running.
The customer had purchased the I0-year old home over a year ago, moving from a house that only had an evaporative cooler. No instructions were provided when they closed their purchase, and they didn't understand their system. They were fortunate that the problem was corrected before extensive and costly damage was caused. We cleaned the indoor and outdoor coils, provided a new air filter, serviced the remainder of the system, and reviewed operation and maintenance procedures. They now own one of our Energy Saving Preventive Maintenance Plans, and we will be servicing them on a regular schedule.
...Some "Air" Facts...
Can Air conditioning systems become damaged by improper filtration?
When dust and biological pollutants get past your filter, they begin to accumulate on your cooling coil. A dirty coil can often lead to costly compressor failure. Dirty coils can also damage your indoor fan motor because of the excessive load placed on it due to the blockage of the air flow.
Does a dirty air conditioning system use more electricity?
"A build up of .042 inches of dirt on a cooling coil can result in a decrease in efficiency of 21%" (EPA) Because dirt is an insulator, it interferes with the heat transfer between the air and your cooling coil. This causes the system to run longer and use more electricity, If you need help in understanding your system and its care, just call our office. We'll connect you with one of our experts and answer all your questions. The information is free, and it could save you money and prevent problems in the future. We're always here to help.

The 38TXA air conditioner delivers cool comfort that you feel.
At Carrier, they understand that it's hard to relax with a noisy air conditioner. That's why they developed the Silencer System to include four features that ensure extra-quiet cooling.
The 38TXA offers environmentally sound indoor weather that saves money with its energy efficiency.
Using Puron® refrigerant system is more energy efficient than R-22, the 38TXA easily surpasses the efficiency of similarly equipped air conditioners that use Freon® 22. Products with Puron® refrigerant offer superior heat transfer capabilities.

In the News
If you have been following our past newsletters, we have been reporting about the phase-out of chlorine based refrigerants. The production of R--12 refrigerant used in autos and some older air conditioning systems has already been phased out, and vehicles manufactured after 1993 are now using R-134A. R-22, which has been used is in virtually all air conditioning systems, was scheduled to be phased out in 2030, but that schedule has now been moved up to 2020, with the manufacture of new air conditioners utilizing R-22 prohibited in 2010. This is no cause to panic. R-22 will still be available after that date, but at a much higher cost when used in repairs to existing systems. That is why Carrier has been designing and testing heating and cooling in equipment that uses Puron®, the refrigerant approved by the EPA to replace R-22. In fact Carrier Air Conditioning is now in its forth year offering of a full line of air conditioning products that utilize Puron® refrigerant, environmentally sound, economically sound and extremely reliable. We anticipate that our sales of the Puron® based Carrier products will see an ever-increasing market share in the near future. If you are considering adding on, or replacing your existing air conditioning system, remember to ask for Carrier and Puron®.
